I have been practicing Chinese internal martial arts since 1994. At first with various teachers until meeting Aarvo Tucker in 1997. Aarvo taught Cheng man Ching style Tai Chi and Ba Gua Zhang, Xing Yi and Chi Gong. Sword movements, pushing hands, fighting techniques and meditative practices are all encompassed within these arts.
In 1999 I began teaching Tai Chi to beginners and was given a grade A instructorship by the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. In addition to time spent training with Aarvo I have also spent time with his Ba Gua teacher Lo De Xiu a renowned master from Taiwan. Lo comes to England every summer. In 2002 Aarvo introduced me to Master Wang Hai Jun and so I began my Chen style Tai Chi training. Aarvo left to live in Canada in 2005 and passed his classes on to me.
I train hard during my personal practice and want to continue developing to reach the higher levels of these arts.
As a teacher I want to hand on the skills and information given to me through my teachers as faithfully as I can. And I aspire to be open and generous with what I do know. And honest about what I don’t know.
