Welcome to James Langcake Tai Chi


Hello and welcome to the website of James Langcake, a Chen style Tai Chi teacher based in Surrey UK.

I have been practising Chinese Internal Martial Arts since 1994. At first with various teachers until meeting Aarvo Tucker in 1997. Aarvo taught Yang style Tai Chi Chuan(Cheng Man Ching), Ba Gua Zhang, Xing Yi Chuan and Chi Gong. Sword movements, pushing hands, fighting techniques and meditative practices are all encompassed within these arts.

In 1999 I began teaching Tai Chi to beginners and was given a grade A instructorship by the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. In addition to training with Aarvo I also spent time with his Ba Gua teacher Lo De Xiu a renowned master from Taiwan. In 2002 Aarvo introduced me to Master Wang Haijun and so began my Chen style training.  Aarvo left England to live in Canada in 2005. Since 2002 I have trained diligently in Chen style Tai Chi under my teacher Master Wang Haijun. My aim as a teacher is to develop my Tai Chi skills to the highest degree possible.  And to try to pass on the teachings I have received as faithfully as possible.
